A visit to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center

This is an unsorted collection of photos from my visit to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Centre in Seattle. I think the centre is a good example of how to drive people’s engagement, although it doesn’t show up very well in my photos.

One thing that has stayed with me since my visit, which took place in September 2018, is the conceptual approach; the common thread of the exhibition. Each topic presented is also followed by an invitation – or an opportunity – to get involved, to get active.

This is also a recurring theme in the concept: engagement can be of varying degrees. A small action can be sharing an insight or opinion on social media (for many, this in itself is a big action). Not everything has to be at an incredibly high level, just because you want to do something.

It inspires me in my work with websites and software.
